Preschool & Kindergarten programs
We have 2 programs to suit the following age groups:
2.5-4 Preschool program, 4-5 Kindergarten program.

The Preschool Program is for children who are 2.5 to age 4 who are able to benefit from the structured environment of learning while they play in a school setting. The children will gain confidence in a social setting by interacting with other children, following routines, exploring and sharing in a new and encouraging environment while making new friends.
Children will start the day with songs and morning routines (including days of the week and other circle time fun). Children will then be encouraged to participate in daily crafts that are planned and modeled, while they are also given an opportunity to try new tactile, visual, auditory and exploratory activities of choice.
Each child will then be redirected to circle time for a story/songs before snack time. Snack time is a wonderful time in the morning because it gives each child a chance to sit with his/her peers and enjoy some “talk” time and use their manners. It is amazing to hear the little voices discussing things with their friends. This is another reason why it is so wonderful to be part of this co-operative nursery school. As parents, we are able to experience this wonderful time by taking part in Duty Parent roles! After snack time, the children usually get some time outdoors (weather permitting). Your child will truly look forward to returning the next day!
The kindergarten program is geared towards children aged 4 and 5. It is ideal for families who have chosen not to send their child to their local public school, or as a complimentary program for those days their child is not at their local school.
Every afternoon includes structured learning activities, circle time, music, creative arts, storytime, free play and outdoor activity. The afternoon class has an adult/child ratio of one teacher for every six students, enabling the teachers to be highly involved in each child’s learning.
The structure of the program exposes students to a variety of activities geared towards social, intellectual, emotional and physical development. Learning how to read, print and understand number concepts are just some of the ways children learn about the world around them. The school’s role is to provide many opportunities where learning is seen as an exciting and successful experience.
Reading is taught through the “Jolly Phonics” program. A reading program that originated in Great Britain and is rapidly gaining popularity in Canada, it teaches phonics by associating each letter with a sound and action. Children quickly learn to “attack” words in print and develop confidence about their ability to learn to read.
